Hounslow Council

Committee details

Cabinet Member Single Member Decision - formerly termed Cabinet Member Delegated Decision

Purpose of committee

Cabinet decisions may be made by a single Cabinet member. These are commonly referred to as a Single Member Decision.

The report setting out the recommended decision is published in advance of the date on which the decision is proposed to be made to meet the Access to Information rules. This is normally five clear working days before the date on which the Cabinet member will make the decision.

Although an agenda and report are published there is no formal meeting for the public to attend.  The agenda gives notice that the Cabinet member is expected to make the decision on that day. This notice allows for the same level of public accountability as would be the case if the matter was considered by full Cabinet.

This type of decision making is subject to the same requirements for Scrutiny call in as a decision made by full Cabinet.
